FLUROESCENCE
2019
ARTIST: JESS DUBBLU, SHAE ROOKE AND SCIENCE PLAY KIDS

Art and science are both about asking a question and experimenting to find an answer.
Artists Jess and Shae have often dabbled in the scientific to explore their practice. This year for ONIF they are getting the professional help they so dearly need. In collaboration with the brilliant Dr. Loz of Science Play Kids, Bar Josephine will become a laboratory of fluorescence, with artworks and experiments that are suitable for children and adults alike.
Featuring a large scale installation of unlikely materials: ink from highlighter pens, expiring flowers and black light torches, scientists and artists of any age are invited to explore the everyday science around them. The process of fluorescence will illuminate the underlying cell structures within flower petals in a neon display, creating a sci-fi landscape that explores the interconnectedness between nature and people.
